WWI photo colourized

I recently got bored (due to a lack of mail) and decided to install gimp and play around for a bit.

After 4 hours, I produced this.

A Corporal of the Newfoundland Regiment, the "Blue Puttees". Not everything is the correct colour due to problems with the program but it is my first time and I think it turned out rather well.

Good effort, I must give this a go, what software are you using?

I used a site called Pristine Images a few years back, to restore & colorize some old pics. Quite a painstaking task doing this sort of thing, especially when casting a critical eye ! Nice work there mate !

GIMP. Perfectly free and easy to use. It is indeed very dark, as I am still getting used to it and sometime colours will change. I recently started adjusting the opacity and it seems to help quite a bit.
