OK, as promised, since there seems to be some confusion on TR eagles, here is a list of the most commonly confused (and misnomered). In any event, this list is not definitive, and if anyone has any corrections/additions, feel free to chime in.

First off is what is commonly called the M-29 eagle, but I have seen it in pics as early as 1927. I call it the M-27. This was used on most political headgear through 1936. It is most often seen on the SA Kepis, as they used it the longest, but it was used by almost all party and civil organisations:

Next up is the M-34 Wehrmacht Adler, used by both the KM and the Heer. However, I have seen these used on both political and civil visors, albeit infrequently.

They measure 50mm. This one is in gold, for the KM (yes, it could also be a General's):

This is the M-34 Political eagle. It was designed for the Form II Political (NSDAP) visor, and was worn in 34/35:

This is the M-35 Reichsbahn eagle. These were worn up to 1941.
All the ones I have seen have been in gold, though there may be silver ones out there. These were worn almost exclusively by the Railway employees.

The wingspan is 35mm:

Next is the M-36 State eagle. All of these I have seen have been in silver. These were primarily worn by the Forstdienst (forestry service). They look very similar to the M-38 State eagle, but are 10mm smaller in wingspan.

The wingspan is 45mm:

This is the M-36 Political eagle. The head can face either right or left. They were worn on the Political (NSDAP) Form III visor up to 1939. You will also see them on HJ Leaders visors.
This one is in Gold, and is on a DAF Werkschar Visor.

The wingspan is 55mm:

Next is that most common of Political eagles, the M-37. It is most often seen in silber on SA Kepis, and in gold on Form IV NSDAP visors.

The wingspan is 60mm, making it the largest of the Political eagles.

Last, but not least, my personal favorite, the M-38 State eagle.
In silver, it is most commonly found on Postal visors. In gold, it is most commonly found on Railway visors. You will also occasionally see them on Political visors.

The hardest two to tell apart are the M-36 and M-38 State eagles.
