Well, it didn't go cheap--it went for $745.02. (& my friend did not win it). KR visors seem to be going for more than TR on Ebay of late.

I agree, more and more collectors are getting into Imperial stuff these days. The prices are bound to rise with the 100 year anniversary of the Great War in a few years time.

That's not a bad price, IMHO, for such a rare cap. Those white top Saxon Ulan caps are not seen often, since there were only two regiments, vs., say, the eight line Kurassier regiments, plus the Garde du Corps, and the Garde Kurassiers.
I would think that someone like Herr Weitze would charge a lot more for a similiar cap.
Also, it's gone now, but did anyone see the very nice 3rd Hussars officer's cap that sold on Ebay USA for $685?

Ben, I believe you are quite correct. I'm looking forward to the MAX Show next week, since a dealer is usually there that has some great Imperial German headgear at fair prices, including pickelhaubes, metal helmets, ulan czapkas, hussar pelzmutzen, and usually 10-15 very nice peaked caps. He does not attend the SOS for some reason.

Will you be taking a camera Bob? would love to see some of the Imperial items offered at the show. If there happens to be a silk top peaked cap, I would also be interested in buying it.

    Ben,
I will try to get some photos for you; I'll need to remind my sidekick, as I sadly don't have a digital camera.

Bob, I saw that one too, and bid on it, but dropped out early--the visor was re-sewn. Here is the link and a pic:
