Regarding the shape, I believe the "crushed" look was very fashionable. Whatever it took to make the cap look that way (punching, altering, shaping) would be done to alter the shape. I have an M38 field cap with a paper clip in the crown to give it a crisp look. It does not surprise me to see the cap shaped this way. NH

I love the look of the '3D' cockade on the wreath, they don't come along too often with that nice wreath & cockade.

I like the cap too, but agree with all of the above statements about upgrading from an OR/NCO to officer status.
