Is it me or do most WH General visor caps have metal insignia? Did Generals prefer metal insignia over bullion?
Cheers, Pat

Sorry for the dumb question: a side cap without this stitching should be considered automatically fake?
Hi
not necessarily......welcome to the forum btw.
no such thing as a dumb question, if in doubt please ask. lots of original caps on this forum for comparison.
cheers

Thank you very much Sir for your kind reply.
This forum is really great, plenty of information and polite discussions!
There is a hat listed in classifieds as police, but it has Wehrmacht cockade and eagle with army green hat band re-applied over police brown hat band.Waffenfarbe looks to be faded orange. Is it possible that this hat went from police to army service, and these alterations were period made? I do not believe I have seen this before.Your opinion will be appreciated.
Thanks,Peter
Is it brown though or is it just faded green just like the rest of the hat? I suspect a collector placed the extra green band on the hat. There has been no attempt to sew it on in any manner that could be called deliberate!.
Thanks for comments.Did the Wehrmacht use orange piping ,or is orange piping always police?
Hi
Orange red piping is used on Army visors for feld-gendarmerie (field police) and from 1944 for ordanance officers.
orange on a police visor is for the rural police. They had brown cap bands and field grey crowns.
cheers
