That's a rather strange looking cap, Friedrich. Looks like someone removed the crown of a green knautschmütze and replaced it with a white one. The staple is strange too.
Might I remind some of you that my purpose with this thread was to highlight these caps. The enclosure with the staple was meant as a contrast of the junk that is the norm, in distinction
to authentic items of actual merit.
And in the spirit of being a hectoring pain in a$$, there is no such term in the past as "Knautschmuetze." This is a contemporary German translation of "crush cap."
