Ladies and Gentlemen,

here are two caps in Wehrmachtsschnitt, the blue one made according to Hempe's instructions, the beige one made according to a dissasembled Alkero police cap of the 1990ies. The crown of which one is higher?

Here is the solution: They are of equal height. It is the asymmetric ascent of the Seitenteile which is responsible for the impression of height. Hempe's Seitenteile ascend in a regular way, Alkero's - as do ErEl's - ascend only in the last third next to the front seam.

Excuse the rude elaboration, I was only trying out the cuts.

I would like to present you the result of the second attempt to do so - the first one failed due to the thin fabric which is extremely hard to process if one doesn't want to use modern methods (non-woven-fabric-reinforcement etc.). I'll let the Stahlbügel in it for some time and then take it out and see whether it will adopt the typical crusher form. If it doesn't look too bad then perhaps I'll post some more pictures,
