Extreme denazification!
nice items but yes a very sad sight to see
Kursk, I'm quite intrigued, never saw something like this; what do you know about their origin? Who could have done this.. vandalism?
What happened to the hats? Who and why did that?
They came as walk-in's at a local gun show..I collect cut off insignia, so they intrigued me to say the least!..
There was a whole shoe box full of them, i will post some more on the insignia part of the forum as i find my way around here..
This man (a Canadian inf. vet) ended the war in a German garrison in Holland and was there till about May of 1946.He had quite a mixed bag, and told me that you could wander just about anywhere and find heaps of visors and uniforms as well as stripped off insignia.Being May in Holland ( and later..) the items on the ground i would imagine would have been water soaked and ruined, even after a few weeks.
I think he killed a lot of time in garrison duty by cutting out the various pieces he did, nothing would probably remain of the caps or tunics if he didn't so i guess we should be glad for that..
Remember at the time, these items even whole and untouched were basically worthless except for cache as souvenirs as far as our soldiers were concerned...
Here are a couple of things as they walked in..notice the two HG division eagles on black..!
another cap lost to the cessation of hostilities..
i bet you keep the scissors padlocked away now phil !!
kursk , to walk into goodies like those is a dream come true , well done
al
The veterans don't find the value on this items. And sometimes better to have the broken piece, instead of nothing, who knows in which garbage was rotten a thousends of untouched items, and what'a fate of the items would meet them if they will be uncut...
