    Ooops,
There goes my cherry as well
I can't help but add my enthusiasm for this early m40. Great heavy twill construction and original wear. Stunner to be proud of.
    (Thanks for the link, Bob!)
    Regards,
    Mark.

    Ade,
I've said it before, I'll say it again, that is one beautiful cap. The fact that it was soutached panzer makes it much more desirable as well.

Tom, I think that you'll find that Bob has a line-up for his PzGren. I was even tempted at one stage to offer him something he would have found very difficult to pass.

    Take care

This topic is both technical support and tropical cap m40 in nature. Please tell me, or tell me where to find, the steps required to post pictures in my album. Like yours, my well used tropical m40 cap also shows the signs of removal of the soutach of waffenfarbe. I wonder if the eagle and swastika may have been removed by POW camp order and thought you may have some information. This cap is the souvenir of a 9th US Army private who returned to the US in August 1945 after service in France, Belgium and Germany 1944-5. Identification of the maker and markings from the faint remains inside the cap is of great interest .

I'm very jealous of this cap. Very nice.

Question: is it a common feature of the tropical feldmutze to have the two piece stitched top? I have not noticed this feature on the wool Heer feldmutze. Is this a war time economy measure to save cloth?

    Thanks,
    Bigfoot
