Another thing to consider when looking to buy an M43 is that the insignia is original to the hat and properly attached. Originally attached insignia is at least 50% of an M43's value!!! Though now a few dealers - I won't mention names - would have you believe an M43 Heer with re attached insignia is worth their asking price of $800 - $1000.00 and a Luft close to that.

Thanks Erich for your input - prices do seem high for genuine M43s!. Ive now got 4 genuine M43s in my cap collection but only one of these with non reapplied insignia. Ive got another very special one arriving soon - I wont mention how much that one has cost!! Supply and demand I guess. Long time collectors probably keep hold of all the really mint ones.
