My self made repro SS cap.
Leonidas - I am impressed! Are you a tailor? How do you join the ends of the piping? How did you manage to sew the sweatband and the visor in by machine (do you dispose of one of the special sewing machines that could do that)?
I can understand your interest in Vulkanfiber visors - the DDR plastic ones don't really fit. There was Pleuser who sold them, unfortunately he quit.
I posted some pictures of caps I made in the cap making thread here: Cap Making
Wow a very nice fabric you have used. And the shape is an elegant sight.
Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to learn tailoring. I completed the apprenticeship in metal construction.
I make leather keychains and use a sewing machine Adler 30-1. They can sew everything including sweatband and visors .
With this cap I sewed the piping sewn big mistake as I have stated. After a little practice, I can sew the piping as in the following picture.
Himmeherrschaftseitn! That is very well done!
Thank you for the compliments!
Just checked on the Adler 30-1, a shoemaker's/leather sewing machine! This is what I dream of - a plainly mechanical free arm sewing machine that can sew in every direction. Where did you find that?
A very sturdy sewing machine with which you can do almost anything.
I bought them for 180 euros.
I just had to clean, oil and go.
