FJ EM's cap

Just thought I'd show my FJ EM's schirmuetze

Unfortunately it's not in fantastic condition, due to light mothing on exterior, although mostly where not visible; and left wing of eagle broken from body, although again not visible except under close inspection, as eagle is secured by stitching as well as prongs.

However, the condition of the exterior is compensated for by the interior.

Any comments welcomed.

What is interesting with the early ErEl caps is that many peaks are handsewn to the body as is the case here. It would be interesting to know the reason for this - the ErEl company certainly had the special sewing machines which could sew sweatband and peak to the cap at the same time. Perhaps this is one of the caps that they outsourced - either for Heimarbeit (the "cottage industry") or to other, smaller, cap makers. Anyway, a nice cap.
