I should look in the RZM list for this firm, which seems like A 2.

Georg Grote from Hannover was A1/246 until July 18, 1936 (A1 = Mützenfabriken).
After that date Grote was known as A2/246 (A2 = Mützenmacher - Handwerk).
The changing was announced in the "Mitteilungsblatt der Reichszeugmeisterei",
nr. 15 from July 18, 1936.

Pages 303 through 307 do mention tens and tens of corrections, mainly being adress-
changes or change of owners. Also some concerns changed from A2 into A1. With this
also the RZM-permissions did change!

In the 1938 RZM manufacturers-list Grote was located at Hannover-Linden,
Limmerstrasse, as it was before in the 1935 "Handbuch der RZM".

This cap has no RZM tag, by the way. It is either gone or never was there. I wonder if this cap was made before the prohibition on firm logos in such caps?

It has a very tall crown and is made of officer's quality textiles.

I have another cap devoid of RZM marks which is not dissimilar.

I should photograph it.

an available RZM permission from 1935 for manufacturing headgear it is
said with 4: sämtliche Fetigfabrikate müssen mit dem Erkennungszeichen
der RZM versehen sein. Nothing is said about concern logo's.

I think logos were forbidden in early 1935. I have this from a belt buckle book written in the 1970sm by Thomas Reid, but that is an old source.
He used RZM materials, by the way, and was an associate of Clyde Davis, whose book of the same epoch was the first half way informed assessment of the topic. The Herstellungsvorschriften mention a prohibition on logos.

The introduction of the RZM tag is more or less connected to the Heimtuecke Gesetz of December, 1934, but the earlier tags make reference to a Hindenburg decree of early 1933 that preceded it.
What I know on this score comes from my reading of the digitalized 1934 and 1935 editions of the Mitteilungsblatt, which are now generally to be had by all.
