I've seen many many M43 and overseas caps that were straight out of the vet's goody boxes and all sorts of them had this or similar crudely sewn work on them. I would not worry overly too much on it-it looks like a nice "been there" cap to me. I'm still puzzling, though, on just How vent grommets ever go missing?? I've seen plenty of this sort of thing too, and never Have figured on just How they end up going lost! Just another one of those minor mysteries, I guess!

This looks to have been at least partly resewn IMHO. The thread starter looks to have been badly sewn, but when or why is hard to say. Does it have moth damage on it other than on the eagle?
