Nice caps Ben, I take it it won't be all that long before we see the cap in all its repaired glory, shame about the imperial but I bet the bidding would have gone up by another two hundred if you had carried on, you have to have a cut off ,but I reckon in a few years time the imperial will be up for sale, pity you could'nt get the buyers name to keep in touch

Marvelous cap. Look in the Almanach de Gotha for the list of German nobility. Ben is a man of fine taste.

Went for 800 euro, my max bid was 750 which I thought was a lot!
But you don't know what upper limit the winner was actually prepared to pay...it might have been considerably more than he did pay

Whatever disappointment might operate, the one you got is really a very handsome and poetic piece, whose de nazification rings quite true, as well.

Too bad that you didn't get both caps, Ben, but your bid on the Imperial cap should have more than enough, I would have thought.
I will try to remember to look in my 1912 Rangliste, and see if a likely candidate is listed under that dragoon regiment.

    Ben,
In the 1912 Rangliste, under the Wurttemberg Dragoner Regt. Konig, Nr. 26, I found a Leut. Freiherr v.Podewils, who joined on 14 Feb., 1906. Promotion was slooooowwww in peacetime!
Let's guess that he was born circa 1886-1890; he could still have served in WWII. Is that his cypher, with crown, on boh caps?

Thanks. I do not find him in the Reichswehr rank lists, but that does not mean much.
