I have never seen a set up like this before. The cockade obviously is meant to go with this eagle, because it is securely attached. But why the stick pin? Did they use this on a cap? Since the eagle is gold I assume it was an officer's. The cockade has wool in the center. The eagle's wing span is approx. 5.1 cm. Thanks.

I know absolutely NOTHING about the KM! So what is a teller mutze? Some sort of a cap, I know, but what kind?

Teller is roughly translated Plate or dish and reffers to the shape of the sailors hat of the time. They had an interchangable top which was either dark blue or white and would have had the Kriegsmarine cap tally on it. I think the stick pin configuration would have been ideal when changinging the tops or when washing them. excuse my (spelling).

Thanks for the info. I guess it was NOT an officer's eagle, then.

    spot on Jock

Nice to see them in that condition, although still a cheap...ish badge, they always seem to suffer from fractures
