re: Interesting Heer Schirmmütze
Actually, my one and only cap is a very salty Heer EM/NCO with infantry piping that matches it. I guess I was just lucky.
I just find things every once in a while that I am particularly attracted to and this visor is one of them. If you ever decide to sell it please let me know!

Shape is quite similar. Are there any markings on it anywhere at all ?
I would likely sell or trade it at some point, but it
won't be cheap.........!
I performed a thorough search when I first got it, and I just looked again, but there are no markings at all. The only info I have on it is that it was private purchase and that the original owner was right handed.

re: Interesting Heer Schirmmütze
I think that having your piping dyed (sounds painful) could well have been an option for some.
Here is an example of more german officer thrift. This guy was in the general staff and has had a red piping band added for artillery. Period addition IMO.
cheers
