    Default Luftwaffe Haube

    Hello Gentlemen,
Picked this Luftwaffe Crew Flying Cap up last weekend. The son was clearing out /selling his recently decease father's belongings off (father was not a collector). Says his father was at Neubiburg Fliegerhorst near Munich, doesn't know much more. I think its kosher! - size 55, style LKpW101, the smudged red date stamp reads 2 Jan 1940. Do members know which type of air crews wore this type of flying cap. I've seen flying crews with style LKpN101 cap and its a different style altogether. Any information appreciated.
    Cheers

Hi Alec, it is certainly original, no doubt about that.

As far as I know, these were worn by both fighter and bomber crews as winter wear.

    Cheers, Ade.

I agree with Ade (and there is an answer on the GHW as well). Nice flight helmet, but missing it's throat mikes and rear lead for the earphones.

    Best wishes

    Hello Ade, Bob,
Thanks for the posts. Bob you'll have to let me know what GHW means. Yesterday I was at the Military Fair in Reichertshofen, I found three helmets same model on offer, none had throat mikes or rear leads for earphones. Don't know why?

Hi Alec, the lack of the throat mikes, wiring loom etc is simply due to these not yet being installed on the helmet. The were designed to be replaced etc and they were a separate stores item. The same thing applied to their RAF counterparts.

    Cheers, Ade.

And I agree with Ade again. (GHW= German Helmet Walhalla), where you also posted the helmet photos.
