Why would the cockade be covered by the straps?
Seems a very odd design fault compared to the trap on a heer M43.

One look good piece. It was not unusual for the cockade to be under the strap. NH

No question that this cap is period original. It appears to be unissued and may be part of the famous hoard found in the Netherlands in the 1960's.

Because there just isn't enough space to see it. I worried about that myself once and realized after handling many of the Luftwaffe mdl 43s that not enough space was the cause.
