    Nearly There!
This figure represents an Assault-Gun Officer in Italy, 1944. The 1st pattern tunic is 100% originally period altered to suit the officer's size, fit and requirements. The lower pocket have been removed so he might tuck the hem into trousers as required, with the addition of a drawstring at the waist to give the tunic a more 'fitted' appearance.
I personally have little interest in collecting officer material of any kind, but this is one tunic I will have in my collection until I give this madness up and sell it all off....

...and now wearing late war tropical style kielhose (worth a thread on their own), a more likely scenario, (although there is ample photographic evidence of troops wearing Pz & Assault Gun tabs on their lapels in North Africa/Tunisia).

The cap is an enlisted man's that's been field up-graded to officer's status. It was picked up near Modena, Italy.

    Hello,
Thank you very much for this nice addition Mark...
For those who don't read this magazine, there are only six reconstructions in the article which are five "portraits" (including the cover) and one full size photo. The rest of course is M40 tropical caps shown from every angle....a lot of different caps...
    Thanks
