Could the two officer types in the middle of the image be visiting dignitaries form another Organisation ?
Notice the headdress insignia appear to be different as well as the cut of the tunics.
Also note the other "officer" in the top right in the Leather coat.

I can tell you that the photo was taken in Potsdam because they are standing on the steps of Sans Souci, the summer palace of Frederick the Great. Dwight

Personally, I would think that the two officers/leaders in front belong to the same organization as the others and that the differences in uniform are merely rank-related. Agreed on the man in the leather coat; he is clearly from some other organization. Perhaps simply the tour guide for this group of visitors?

No; none of the uniforms and insignia seen in the photograph match those worn by the OT.

Having said that, I cannot offer any theory on just who they are.

Some aspects (such as the collar patches worn by the men in the foreground) remind me of Postschutz or (1936-39) Bahnschutz personnel, but that's certainly not the answer as there are far too many differences to the uniforms and insignia worn by either of those services (starting with the cut of the tunics).

We know for sure that they are not members of the armed forces, the police, the RAD or any of the major political organizations (like the SA, SS, NSKK etc.).

My gut feeling is that they are members of some minor (non-military, non-police, non-SS) security force.

I'm wondering if this is some form of cadet cadre, seeing that there appears to be varying ages among the group and the older men instructors perhaps?

My thoughts are that this is a class outing from a political school. The older men are likely instructors. The majority of the individuals appear to be quite young. Possibly Wilhelm Saris can help us out on this one.

Hmmm... If that's correct, shouldn't at least the instructors be wearing party armbands? It seems strange to me that they wouldn't be.

(Not that I have a better guess!)
