Hi Tom, that is a Medical officer visor.
Here is a Transport visor, notice the light blue piping. There is also another darker blue used for Supply but I don't have an example to show.
There are a lot of piping colors and depending on the year you might have 2 different colors for the same branch.
Roger that!
Thankyou kindly
So i have a Medical cap.
Hi Tom, medical is correct in my opinion, which to be honest, was my first thought when I saw the cap.
Cheers, Ade.
Thanks Ade,
Yeah Medical is okay but i just thought it was the wrong colour when i first bought it. Funny how we can mix them up until sombody points it out with photos of caps.Oh well i'm happy to just have an original with soutache and thanks again to Erichk for all his help too
Tom
The Medical officer hats are under appreciated in my opinion. Some collectors think of them as other than combat or front line soldiers; a lot of these officers were often close to the front lines in field hospitals and often worked under horrific conditions. I consider these gentleman to be as worthy of respect as any other combat vet.
its so rare it had to be a fake
I could not agree more Erich,
Thanks for all the help too and much appreciated I used to have a nice M36 Medic NCO tunic all original and now wish i had of kept it so they could go together Like you say they were brave men serving in combat lines and just as worthy as the rest. After all where would they be without them? ++
Tom
Medical SS would indeed be super rare
Thanks Colt45
