Just out of curiosity, what sort of $$$ would a similar cap go for on the market these days?

    Nice later wartime example Chris!

$4000 is way too much, between $1k and 2 would be more realistic for a nice Panzer extramuetzen.

Tom, the collectors guild cap is a different and much rarer animal altogether hence the price.

I agree with Ben that a price around $4000 for such a cap in general is way too much. But the cap on the Guild is a Welhausen and I absolutely adore the maker Wilhelm Welhausen - especially their prewar caps with the soft leather visors - the linked-to example does sport a leather visor, but is a wartime cap based on my knowledge of the stencils of this maker.

I would never pay anywhere near that kind of money for a typical (which the Welhausen is not), but fine Heer cap with a rather common, but desired Waffenfarbe.

    Hochachtungsvoll,
