Polizei M43 cap

I picked up this beautiful m43 cap a few months ago and just got around to taking some photo's. Police caps are among my favorite type of headgear. The cap features the distinct shade of blue / green material, pebbled aluminum buttons and machine woven police eagle trapezoid. The edelweiss badge is not original to the cap. I'm undecided as to whether I should remove it or not. I also took some pics of the cap alongside my other polizei items. Cheers, Al

Yes, the website I bought it from clearly stated it was post war added but I think I'll leave it alone for now. Thanks.

I love the way rayon linings wear. A nice original cap. Personally, I would remove the badge. It displays well with you other police items.

I took your advice and removed the badge. It was really well sewn on and appears to have been on there for a fairly long time. You can see that the knap on the cap is worn out where the badge was. Can anyone advise if the edelweiss badge is WWII era or a post war variety ? If so, what characteristics would distinguish the two types ? There are no markings that I can see. I have another identical badge in my collection and I never really knew if it was an original WWII item. Any help is appreciated, thanks, Al.
