objects all the same, I think. The favorites are the lost ones, surely. The ones which linger in memory, and whose absence is more painful and poignant.

If by favourite, we mean the one that would be just too painful to let go, it has to be this one for me.

Extraordinary piece and also the Loch Ness monster of the internet militaria websites, i.e. internet polls to the effect that exactly two caps of this kind ever existed; and after 31 December 1940, because the RFSS ate them personally by dint of his horror at Prussian tradition seeping into his SS at arms. Maybe he was color blind in addition to being a genocidal lunatic?

After all, such must be true is in the regulations (translated in a secondary work in English), and everyone knows that Germans are just handsome looking machines, like my W 211 E class. Those who say this have also never been to Germany.

I am glad this piece is in such a fine collection.
Why do not you buy also the nice Paul Kaps Waffen SS field cap with the artillery piping to keep your Panzermann company?
    It is cold in Europe.

Christmas greetings to you also my friend!

If only I had the funds to add the Paul Kaps you speak of to my collection.

Here is the Paul Kaps, my friend Andi is the owner and seller. I remember we had to work very hard to get this cap acknowledged for being what it is, a super example from a very interesting maker.

Thanks. It is a spectacular cap and the absence of sale indicates that many of the internet lions or savants are not especially serious about this regalia. They expect the heirs of the greatest generation to make a gift to them of such an item for about USD .25 or such.

Season's greetings to you and to all other upright seekers of the truth, even when it is ambiguous.

In addition to purchasing the artillery field cap, I invite Ben to seek out the Pz Grenadier SS cap on pg. 104 of the Beaver/Shea book. It even has an army style chinstrap as well, which I like for some stupid reason. Actually, while he's at it he should seek out the artillery piped cap on the same page, as it would look good with our Paul Kaps example.

Here are some more pictures of that cap, complete with dorky censorship.
