Thanks for the correction
I had googled it first to be sure and the translation was given as ''ship'' so i thought it was ok
Well Chris, in German Schiffchen means something along the lines of "little ship" because of the boat-like shape of these caps. Always glad to help you out with some German, my friend And remember also to always capitalize the first letter of every German noun

Re: Post your favorite cap!
Very nice, but you have more and they are very compelling and interesting. Let others gaze and drop their jaws in astonishment.

not being a partaker of TR caps (yet
) seeing all yours sure makes me want to go get one
my favourites this shaped bw lufty made by bamberger in the 70s
What kind of Third Reich Schirmmütze would you like Tom for your first one? I am afraid that I have no collecting interest in the Bundeswehr or NVA for that matter - for me the former represent a Germany more inclined towards Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck than to Goethe and Schiller. From a material point of view though, your cap is very fine.

Re: Post your favorite cap!
Thanks. You need a chin strap for your Bundeswehr cap. The field grade officer's cap is also a nice once.

Re: Post your favorite cap!
The history of the Bw and the NVA are compelling in their own right, and I hardly think you can suggest that the Federal Republic or the DDR are as meaningless as US cartoons.
I do not collect items after 1945, but there are those who do here and they have a right to their taste.
To each his own.
