Hi Hans nice cap,
I just scored this beauty--a minty Bancroft Flighter true USAAF crusher:
“Show me the regulation, and I’ll show you the exception.”
I just posted this on the other forum--2 rivals (in more ways than one) at peace after 67 years. The Luftwaffe is a mint late-war Erel, and the other is the above crusher, which is also late-war. Bancroft was basically the Erel of the USA during the war--they cranked out a lot of caps from 42-45:

Whoooo Chris your cap is incredible ! BRAVOOOO
That US crusher looks like it was made yesterday. Congrats.
Scout and Wolfty, thanks for the kind comments. I had been looking for a killer Bancroft Flighter in mint condition for the past 25 years without success. I guess good things come to those who wait (but 25 years?!)
