Further on from my request for any pictures of RADwJ headgear:

    Post Your RAD Headgear Photos

Wim Saris contacted with some fantastic photos and the following information:

"The reason one does not often see these hats, has a simple reason. They were worn after the war. Insignia or even the hat band was removed and the lady was “in fashion” with a great hat. I know this from females in the family from Germany!

Here are some photos from an original hat and a photo of a girl wearing such a hat. Note the name tag and the stamp, saying a 1939 production. The swastika’s of the photo are removed, so it must be from a website or ebay.

The hat and the photo are credited to: Daisy Vermeiren
She is a lady who collects RAD female material, who allowed me to show the material on the forum, which was handed over to Wim.

Please accept my thanks to both Daisy Vermeiren and Wim Saris for allowing me to share this.

I do want to thank Daisy & Wim for sharing this as well--always great to see artifacts and photos from this neglected organsiation!

I'm curious about the edelweiss myself.

Officially females were not allowed to wear or use the Edelweiss,
but as always the one or the other lady (the one above might be
from Austria) used the insignia with her hat.
The used RAD traditions badges did not have any value within the
females-organization! Nothing about this matter ever was mentioned
in any of the official sources.
