Recommended books and related literature

This is my favourite shelf and contains some of my most used reference books.

FB has already posted on the headgear of hitlers germany vol 1-4 being worth more than a look and I would also recommend them as an all embracing set that cover everything.




If you want to also cover just about everything, any time, any place, anywhere then you can sit down sip your martini and read the uniforms and traditions set of books on army,navy and airforce. They are the dogs whatsits

Steel helmets your thing ? Get ludwig Baer's book....it's all you'll need imo.

Here they are in pride of place on the shelf next to my desk.

I've learn't more from watching period footage on youtube than reading any book.

In todays world any media outlet provides us with the opportunity to gain knowledge.....look what were using now ! The thread should be open to all reference sources.....

Personally I'm a big fan of the written word, sitting in my chair with a good book and a cup of rosie lea......lovely (I sound like my dad !)

Here's a good picture source for Imperial caps...only deals with cavalry and is only descriptive of the caps regiment in the text rather than dealing with any detail on the caps make up. Good reference and a great appendices listing regt, cap colour and piping colours....that said all can also be found on Kaiser's Bunker

Gday all,
Whilst collecting TR headgear is out of my financial reach I still have an interest in such items.
Two of my better ref. guides
1.Waffen-SS Uniforms & Insignia Krawczyk & Lukas
2.German Headgear in WW2 SS,NSDAP,Police,Civi and Misc Morgan & Maguire



The first image is an extract from the Krawczyk & Lukas publication.
As I find them cheaply enough I wish to complete the Morgan & Maguire series.

May-be this thread would be useful in all sections of the forum.It's a great concept re identifying quality literature over what's not so good in each given field.
