Hi Matthew, the problem with these type of caps is that they are all field made. No such thing as an issue cap. Zeltbahns are easy to find and cut up to make a cap. So you then have to rely on true age and wear to determine if a cap is original or not. The example shown is bad.
Cheers, Ade.
Hello,
It is always extremely hard to determine if these caps are period or not. We know that there was no factory production of such camouflaged caps for the Wehrmacht Heer and as already mentioned, all examples should be "field made". Period pics show many different "design" worn...with or without buttonholes and buttons, with or without real or false turn-ups...
From my own experience, 99 % of what i've seen in the past or on the market today is crap....like the one that is shown here.
Thanks

Does anyone have any pictures of an original? I mean, in effect, unlike every other relic, to find an original, one is looking for poor construction / bad condition? Thanks a lot for the input - I'm learning a lot!
Matthew
some guy posted his collection a few days back i think and he had originals in that lot wish i coudl remeber the post but i guess youll have to trawl unless someone else does
Here you go :

the fact that it is real or not has still to be determined.
Thanks
