Yeah Nice !
in fact it was the Eigenmaechtigkeit of the LAH persons with the army badge on their caps that prompted the design in 1935 of the second SS Hoheitszeichen. We have a thread about this fact, and we also have threads
about the earliest grey uniform. Mr. d'Alquen has done signal picture research on this account.
and others in the LAH continued this custom into wartime. His aide did, too, I think.

For those with some substantial knowledge of German civil military relations in the epoch 1918-1945 all of it makes more sense. We have inquired into this theme dozens of times.
. Interesting thanks for the photo, s and explanation
Mr. d'Alquen has done the real research. Himmler was, in fact, a failed officer, whose attempt to join the army at war's end ca 1918 was a significant event in his odd, violent life.
Longerich, who is the real Himmler biographer, makes this point in a talk he gives on line.
Dietrich's character and deeds are memorialized everywhere, and from this record you can infer his preference for his own kind of uniform, a thing not limited to him or to others in the German past.
Why is it called "military fashion, " after all....?

He also had the affect of not wearing the brassard on the black uniform in the early years of the LAH.
