Default HELP -Unit ID for Pioneer Schirmmütze

Posted this visor a few days ago and thanks to everyone for their help.

I do have a follow up question so started a new thread.

Now that I know it is a Pioneer/Pionier Schirmmutze, I'm trying to identify (and learn how to read the unit markings under the sweatband.

Any help in identifiying this unit would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know what the E37 stands for (I know the sweatband was made in 1937, just not sure of "E".

It appears to read .1./PI 82 II.

    Thanks!

    Michael

    Hi Michael

The unit was 1st company, pioneer battalion 82. The II indicates it was an issued piece and out of stores.

Look at this link for the unit history...... Lexikon der Wehrmacht

    cheers
