Thanks Greg, I like that one too. I'm not sure if that one lost all of its finish or it was used like that. I see no traces of silver.

I scored another rare Danziger variant this week. There is a thread about this type on the forum but I cant find it. I do however have great photographs originally posted by Friedrich-Berthold showing the skull, in situ.

While many of these Danziger skulls look similar in appearance
you can see that this one is very distinct

Connecting the dots with these skulls by matching them up with period photographs or authentic headgear is the most gratifying aspect of collecting these. My gratitude to this forum and all those who contribute in one form or another.

I was fortunate enough to come across another example of this rare early type skull. I have seen this type attributed to Freikorps, Stahlelmbund as well as early SS caps. I'm very happy to have found another one in better condition with a lot of silver finish and both prongs.
