Damn....I knew that was too easy...did you cheat by zooming in on the ink stamp??

    For US M1 Carbine

guess I don't have enough of those really "odds and ends" in my collection.

    Beer is on me.

No, didnt think of zooming in.
Anyway, Im currently on a small tablet screen, so that wouldnt have done me any good - I just tried and it goes blurry.
Ive seen period pics of the wrapper.
For what its worth, the water resistant wrapper is also used in movies like for example 'Saving Private Ryan' in the D-Day beach landing scene IIRC.

And here is the part that it was made to protect.....tho it could be said that it was the other way around.......one of my favorite pieces, and yes, it is deadly accurate even today.............I've included the "business" end of of it even though many axis members never knew what hit them.

Mike - I love these jump bags. Have one with my Paratrooper M1 Carbine. Thanks for showing. Here's the link to mine.

Guys, seeing these made me think about just how heavy these M1's are, even the folding stock one had to have weighed a ton ! The GI's that carried these for so many miles had to of had arms of steel. As I recall a fully locked and loaded M 14 weighed weighed over 14lbs and I remember that it was pure misery to carry that anchor after about 5-6 miles along with your 40-50 lb field pack on your back, even though I was just a pup.

    Ramon,

The carbines were light. I think around 5lbs. without mag.

I didn't know that......but what else do I not know ! lots. I just weighed my M1 and it weighs over 10 lbs. with sling. One of our punishments for not meeting expectations from our drill instructors was to have our company run in circles in the company area with our M 14's over our heads till we were about to drop, that rifle felt like it weighed 100 lbs.............this was in 1967. Well, back to the present, gotta mow 15 acres, or at least mow some of it today.

Hi MAP Thanks for your comments and the link. I think that yours is slightly different from mine and yours has excellent provenance. It is a shame that mine has not been personalised or unit marked as it is a nice date and may have seen some action. But who knows???????????????????
    Cheers MR

Yes, they are slighly different. Mine is made by Harian. I am told that most/all jump bags with discarded as soon as the paratroopers landed. BTW, my jump bag is not tied to the Carbine. Was paired with it after the fact, but the Carbine has provenance :-)

Yes MAP, I imagine that they would be as once used, they would have been more junk to carry. Rare???
    Cheers MR
