It's quite difficult to put a value on such an unusual item-they are more of a curiosity now than a collectors item, but I wouldn't be surprised to see one in the $75 dollar range, give or take a few depending on the day and the buyers.

Hi folks, You can bet my eyes popped out when I saw this suitcase at an antique store. The Grünmeliert cover caught my eye right away. We know it as the material used to make the early FJ bone sack. It was marked "US officer suitcase?" For 50 US dollars I thought it was a bargain. As you can see, it is a period German Plattenkopfer made of Vulkanfiber. I think it compliments a living history display. I don't the exact date of this suitcase but I will guess 1935 to 1950. NH

Michael R. - thanks for the comment. I have two TR era suitcases. Knowing that officers were allowed to have some luggage I think they make a great addition to an impression. I use one in displays too. Have a look. NH

Unusual items do not have the real market value. But they have a lot of character! For example that "ruined" bajo - yes, it is not a bajo any more but $75 sound a cheap price to me.
