I'm sure I read somewhere that AI was not an authentic sqn code in BoB so as not to offend / discriminate against any of the actual units participating. Anyone know if this is correct?

You're quite right - the producers were concerned that use of actual Squadron codes would lead to endless ' Why wasn't my old Squadron shown in the film?' criticism, so they opted for fictitious codes. So the film Spitfires used AI, BO, CD, EI, EQ & LC codes.

I completely understand why you are fond of these things.
For me, it was the Bachmann Mini-planes. Back about 1970 or so,
I had an entire dog fight hung from my bedroom ceiling on threads.
An epic battle between several Sopwith Camel and the Fokker triplanes.

I still have a triplane but it has seen it's better days.

I found mine..... I think I have had this from when I was 6 or 7 years old. It is precious to me. I got two after begging my parents. This and an F4 Phantom...

Can't believe that this one held up so well. The Phantom didn't...LoL and is now long gone...
