During the civil war the greek army wore batledress uniforms constructed in Canada Australia or England,these were worn by all ranks, some officers who were commisioned prior to ww2 continued to wear their british type service dress uniforms, if this uniforms were not destroyed during the occupation years, many officers wore american soldiers dress uniforms adorned with officers insignias,as dress uniforms of cource. The communists wore british batledress uniforms supplied to them during the occupation years. A usual combination for non officer communists was batledress tunic and trousers with enlisted greek soldiers hat as the one it is displayed above without the shown national embem .Many communist officers were officers of the greek army and continued to wear their pre-war servise tunics. When i will have more free time i will upload photos of that period.

Congrats Giorgos for your collection, very nice items.
Are you sure that your badge of the 3rd greek mountain brigade is original? Compare it with mine, they have many differences except they used many patterns.

I am sure that this is an original example because i compared my example with the example shown in a book showing the greek medals published by the war museum of Athens, my example has the exact dimensions with the example shown in the book with some minor differnces. I have seen your patter of the badge in the war museum of Athens or that of Thessaloniki. By the way great document, you were very lucky to find it.

I remember a great discussion with a civil war Vet around a bottle of Mavrodafni in 1992...The years of the hate,a very very bad time for Greece.47 years after ,this man was as anti-communist as in 1945,incredible...

You are absolutely right, the concequences of the civil war were dramatic for the greeks, one example is that you mention. There are also people who fought with the Democratic Army that still refer to their to the nationalists as traitors and enemies of the liberation cause. These situations cannot continue to exist. Thank you for your love for Greece, I hope that you will be able to visit Greece soon!
