Another iconic soviet weapon!....
Looks good Ken, have you done any work to the stock ?
Yes steaming all the grime and knocks out as long as the wooden fibres are'nt broken they pop up give them a clean then use a good wood dye , i use shellac mixed with methylated spirit so its not to thick nice even coat then rub with 2000 paper . then rub with a wax cloth and polish , they come up really nice , very fine wire wool on the steel remove all paint , and slight touch up with re blue if needed , just gives them a second life ,, most were re feurbed even my 19944 has the re fefurb marks . because coated in shellac /cosmoline and stored in the salt mines after the war , ryton arms arms have nice examples if you ask for a hand picked one ... i do lol .. i even used the wifes iron with wet towels to steam the dent if any .
cheers ken
Hi Ken,
another +nice rifle mate, the carbine really looks good i like those, I have two mosins from Izhevsk factory,
one 1917, a carbine 1942 then an AK 47 from the same place first issue 1950-53, my 42 issue was never fired it was in store from the wartime stocks, then taken out and was made deac. i would like a nice revolver from them now.
Dave.
I missed out on a mint nagant revolver last year by one day bummer
Nice kit
I like the M-44, I've got one of the first 1943 izhevsk batch ones, a 1944 tula (only year they made them) a minty 1947 Izhevsk and a bring back from SE asia with the com-block grenade launcher mount on the side.
Love them!
