My Den & Collection

Article about: Some photos of my sanctum santorum/den. Most of my collection of 35 years or more is British, with some Third Reich and Imperial German headgear. And, as my wife is wont to say, a LOT of boo

Thanks for your kind comments. My wife is of the opinion that some day my den is going to come crashing down upon her on the first floor, due to the weight of all of the books!
I'm reduced to sneaking books in the house, at my age! That's difficult. when many come from Amazon, and are delivered at the front door.
My belief is that you can never have enough books.

It is always great to be able to come home from work and sit amongst your collection. Fantastic items. I really like those Imperial hats.
Thanks very much. I just have the five Imperial schirmmutzen for now. All officer's caps, they are for the Garde Schutzen Battn., 3rd or 6th Bavarian Chevaulegers, 16th Dragoons, Prussian Infantry, and field grey Prussian Infantry.

Very nice, sir! Love all those books too, can't have enough.

The mini-drums are interesting. Can you elaborate on them?

I think they are biscuit barrels, I saw one for sale once, though missing it's lid.

Great collection Bob, love the British head gear. What regiment is the Glengarry for and what date is it if you know?
    Regards,

    Jerry

    Whatever its just an opinion.

The glengarry is for the Royal Scots, with an officer's badge on it. No idea on the date, but I would say 1950's or earlier. An old friend of mine gave it to me, sans badge.

The drums were all made by Regimental Replicas in the UK. Some I bought directly from dealers years ago, but most I have picked up on Ebay Uk. They are bloody expensive full price; I believe 50 pounds or so. I've been lucky to pick up some pretty cheap, and I currently have 22 drums.
