ok, as far as I can see none of his known whereabouts are mountain areas, except maybe Glina-Croatia. Would it be possible to find edelweiss in that area?

Just read, that it was Hitlers favourite flower so no wonder that you could buy edelweiss postcards

looks like Grenadier Regiment 573 belonged to 304. Infanterie-Division (6th Army). In April 43 they should have been located somewhere around the Mius River. Hope it helps.
