Yup, me too! The unanswerable question is whether they were period or post war added.

I'd say, probably, post war. The wear to the right, just above, and to the left of the runes doesn't match the runes wear, IMO.




The wear is consistent throughout the ring, except for the runes, which look a lot newer. Also, why wouldn't the runes that have been scratched on have the same discoloration of the other scratches which were due to wear, especially since its ground dug.

It's somewhat more noticeable once the photo is enhanced.

Regardless when the runes were put there, it is still a great ring, and one any collector would like in their collection, congratulations.
