The adavantage with a lid like this Glenn is that you have the history of what happened in the location that it was found , you have some nice items and they are far from modest !!

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

I've just been emailed by my mail forwarding people that a little package is on its way to me from Russia with a couple more SS trinkets
I won't spoil the surprise until they arrive and I get some nice photos but in the meantime, here's a couple more SS relics i've bought since this thread was started.
11. SS-Freiwilligen-Panzergrenadier-Division Nordland Erkennungsmark.
What I think is a divisional badge or volunteers badge for the same unit. Or maybe it's a Norwegian party member or youth party member badge?
Nice items Glenn! I cant wait to see whats en route

My Russian package just arrived!
Mystery item #1: Ferdinand Wagner Schirmutze Adler
I just love it! For me it's just the right level of saltiness. Not mangled or unrecognisable, just a nice amount of patina and the missing/broken pins only speak to me of its history.
I believe the Wagners are considered somewhat rare amongst cap eagle manufacturers and there is some controversy over the 'closed' v 'open' 9 on the '39' in addition to the traditional German 'slashed 7' as opposed to a regular font '7'. Some maintain the open 9/slash 7 versions are fakes whereas just as many maintain they are merely a variant.
Fortunately this example is a regular 7/closed 9 so I'm comfortable with it, even if I didn't know the digger and already have Ade's thumbs up!
Looks good Glenn !
Can I ask where do you find your SS dog tags ?

Hope your job situation has improved/will improve.
For one who has reluctantly 'joined the dark side' and started collecting SS relics, I think you did pretty well.
As others have mentioned, you are far too modest.
great items.hope i find so cheap ss item one day
