Well after more than a year out of work I have scored a Government authority position here in Qatar! A nice tax-free salary and more than generous working hours should leave me quite some time for getting the collection back on track!
Great news Glenn. I am so glad to hear that.
Congrats and all the best on your new job.

I had refrained from mounting any of these SS items into a frame as a vow that would only be broken after snagging a job.

    So now, watch this space!
    Crikey! It looks pretty intense.......

Well after much fussing about I have decided on a 'less is more' approach to the framed SS goodies. The 2 rings, the cartridges and the buckle will take up residence alongside the helmet in my IKEA display cabinet so for the framed pieces, this is what i've settled on...

Yes, I know the 2 x Gebirgsjager tags and the weird little badge on the bottom aren't SS per se but they were all found in SS positions so i'm counting them as eligible for the display.

I figured I should add one of my latest SS purchases to my now "not so incredibly modest but still quite modest compared to some' collection.

Glenn some nice unquestionable SS items I usually don't comment on them but yours are no brainers. Love those DWM cases I had some I bought in the late 70' live like the ones you show and didn't have sense to keep them as I got burned on too many SS items from shows I thought they were fake. You have solved my mystery thanks for showing. timothy

I nearly forgot! The second of my 1st type SS/Freikorps rings arrived last week, I just hadn't got around to photographing it.

Clearly nicer condition than my other ground-dug example and only missing the enamel from 1 eye which kind of makes it look like the little scull is winking at me!

A nice, moderate amount of wear.

    The enamel is almost perfect!

The expected 'GOLDIN' material mark. Goldin was a cheap alloy used in many of these kanteen rings.

Odd mark that caught my attention...

Closeup of said mark, could it be a personalisation of the original owner or a later 'upgrade'?
