that would be great thanks, a lot of the cap badges were from my nan again, so i very much doubt they were fake.

as for the HG badge, D Evans gave it to me so im unsure why its a female one, although cheddar is in the middle of onwhere so maybe they used what they were given lol

when you say private purchase , would it have been purchased from the army or not?

as its made out of a polished metal which is obviously very unusual for normal use

Hi Jim, the shaving mirror would have been bought at a shop. They were popular items with wives and sweethearts, often due to the classic story, that men carring them in their breast pockets had their lives saved when they helped stop a bullet or a bit of shrapnel. Plus the army did not issue shaving mirrors so it was a useful bit of kit.

The badge with "Touch not the cat but a glove" is a Scottish Clan badge and is not a military cap badge. Then you have the Border Regt, Welsh Guards, Parachute Regt Old Comrades Association lapel badge, Pioneer Coprs, a couple of Nothants Regt badges, one is missing the scroll, Durham Light Infantry, etc... One badge is post war, the Royal Engineers

thanks adrian much appreciated, the northants without the scroll was dug up in my grandads garden as was the scottish boarders one lol , not sure where the RE one came from though

Your German medals are both nice genuine examples, as Adrian has mentioned.
Not all were maker marked. I have WWII EKII's that are also not marked.

The marking on the helmet in 'hard to read' code above the lot number
is the maker and size in centimeters - it looks like a size 64 or 66.

ah glad they are genuine, the aging looks about right on them, am hoping to get a few little bits off the internet soon, like Russian belt buckles and german items with the eagle and swastika on them , the emblem is my favourite out of all war items

Let me say that collecting this stuff is a serious addiction.......................!

Make sure you deal with reputable sources as there are TONS of fakes
on the market. We always suggest you post a photo(s) of items
you are interested in on the Forum so they can be verified
as 100% original before you buy.

who collect only Third Reich material.

Hi Jim, Steve offers good advice (as usual) and you need to take care buying online or elsewhere for that matter. Post potential purchases here first to get them vetted. Collecting German items is a minefield.

thanks for the advice steve , i have been looking at trench art on here and on ebay and have noticed that one of the guys on here sells on ebay,

would prefer to buy from here instead of other sites anyway as a collectors opinion is better than a traders!
