OK. Well, I'm guessing you need a piece by piece identification so lets get started:



1. Canadian Engineers Cap Badge
2. Canadian General Service Button - shoulder strap/pocket size
3. Canadian General Service Button - front of jacket size
4. Collar Badge 92nd Bn, Canadian Infantry
5. Canadian Engineers Collar Badge (also had other uses, but in this context that's what it is)
6. Black Watch (British) Cap Badge
7. I first thought a 92nd collar badge, but will have to check up on this...
8. General Service (British) Cap Badge
9. Canadian Shoulder Strap Title (worn on base of each strap)
10. No 2 Identity Disc (usually worn with red No 1 disc on cord around neck)

I think the lump between 6 and 10 is a piece of wax from a sewing kit.

Of course it is! I knew I recognised it.

It's a McGill University Canadian Officer Training Corps Cap Badge. I have a feeling this is a later badge, was he a student there maybe? Or one of the staff in the corps?

To be honest I don't really know. His victory Medal says that he was a Private and he enlisted as a Private so I don't believe he was one of the staff in the corps. And no he did not attend Mcgill.

I meant after the war. Some ex-military men liked to take part in cadet and COTC corps as instructors. Just a thought...
