Part of my New Zealand Collection
Hi all,
This is the main part of my collection that I display. While it is nothing compared with many of your collections, as I'm only 16 I have many years of collecting ahead.
While I have titled this "New Zealand Collection" some foreign items are included, they are few in number as it is really hard to get here, particularly genuine German stuff. Anyway here it is:
My Medal display case that displays mainly family war medals and associated items.
(Ignore my Grandfathers fire brigade medal in the front)
Great, Great Grandfathers: WW1 Medal, discharge paper, dogtags, Returned services Pin and regiment badges.
He served with the Canterbury Infantry Regiment, NZEF.
My Great Grandfathers WW2 medals, discharge papers, RNZAF cap badge, Blazer pocket, and some RNZAF items (not his). Given to me after he passed away in December 2010 (aged 89). Years of wearing the medals on his behalf to ANZAC day Parades paid off.
I collage of original photographs of the RNZAF given to me by my Great Grandfather (above).
The Main Shelf.
Compasses. From Left: Air Ministry P4A (Lancaster), Pioneer 1829 vehicle compass (DUKW) and Air Ministry P6 (Tiger Moth).
NZ made Mills Bomb.
NZ boxed civilian respirator. (These were never handed out to the public in NZ but stored by the government in civil defence shelters)
Gas Mask Collection.
NZ WW2 Battle Dress, SGT rank.
Sleeve close up, showing rank & insignia.
Service Cap (date stamped inside) with NZ ONWARD badge.
So that is pretty much all my current display pieces.
I am really, really lucky to have many of the family items I have. I have my grandmother to thank as she knows that I will look after them and other than for insurance purposes have no interest in their monetary value.
All comments and questions welcome.

I'm in Hawke's Bay. You are lucky to have at least one Army surplus/collectables shop in Wellington, we have nothing up here so I have to rely on trade me to get new stuff.
