No where near as good as Gene's USMC displays but it is coming along...
It has the configuration that my great uncle carried on Iwo-Jima that is why it has a carbine bayonet with a Garand.

Hi
It was a mask worn by Tank Crews to stop them breathing in the small bits of metal which were created when a bullet hit the outside of the tank. It also protected their eyes from such splinters.

Hi William it was a protective mask for WW1 Commonwealth tank crewmen to prevent metal splinters from penetrating their eyes and facial area. The metal splinters were from the brittle metal splintering when hit by high velocity rounds. The mask is on the tank crewman tunic to the 1st Canadian Tank Battalion which was worn by a soldier named Scully. His dogtags, tunic, lanyard and cap were all his.
