Cheers mate, I would say there are quite a few different variations. There are a few Aussie ones Ive seen that I dont have yet and Ive seen several New Zealand versions and a couple of British ones as well.

my grandfather brought it back from his time in the ETO, but according to his discharge paper he never saw the ME or Afrika, which makes me wonder how he got it!

Still a nice piece, maybe it came from the Italian campaign.

His discharge paper shows Northern France and the Rhineland only, but there are many things on that paper that do NOT make sense to me. such as his unit (907th air engineering squadron) that doesnt exist other than in ONE document Steve T provided, aswell as why a Teletype mechanic holds an expert qualification for a machine gun, and a marksman qual for a carbine, and not a rifle and pistol....

Tan painted equipment was the norm from the mid war period onwards, so more likely came from France or N. Europe.

    Very good though.

Sunset, it is quite possible that not all the items in his posession
were actually awarded or used by him. Vets might pick up
things from buddies, or from anywhere at any time.

I bought a USAAF Nurse's wing from a guy who had a collection
from a Canadian Army Medical Corps nurse. It did not really
'belong' to the group and it could have been given
    to her by anyone.........
    Regards,

    Steve.
