Does anyone know if Otto Carius speaks English? My copy of Tigers in the Mud arrived from Amazon this week and I want to know if I have to have my accompanying letter translated into German for him as I want to say a few nice words rather than just a 'Dear Otto, please sign this' message.
Glenn you can send Otto a letter in English he is used to it and has younger members of the family who speak English who will translate for him , but if you can it is of course send it in German he would appreciate it. As Chris says generally he knows that folk want a signed photo so will send one out or a signing for a book . Due to all the mail he receives he doesn't have time like many RKT to answer many in depth questions but as i have been in touch quite a few times i've actually had some corrrespondance with him about the Auwere fighting !!

Interesting thread, my compliments to all who've participated. I've but one signed book, this one by former WSS Prinz Eugen division soldier Fred Umbrich who is a long time customer of mine, and I went to school with his son Fred Jr. This is an excellent book and I encourage anyone who has read it to try and pick it up.

Will Mr Carius still reply? I had read see here that due to age he wasnt responding any longer. Not the case?

I'm pretty sure he still does. I bought a signed book directly from him.

Probably this is due to photos being taken with an ipad. They appear normal on the tablet but when you send them via email or upload them here they get upside down.
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
