Nice collection Nick. I got into these whilst serving in Berlin before the Wall came down and most of mine were obtained "under cover of darkness" for want of a better expression whilst trading things you really wouldn't believe with our Soviet opposites at Allied Checkpoint Charlie ( Soviet Military Mission - SOXMIS vehicles passing through. But this was a rare contact) or at Tiergarten Soviet War Memorial (we manned a police post at the back gate and they would tap on the side window from inside their compound). A popular thing for them was mail order catalogues (I told you you wouldn't believe it!) which they would send back to the USSR for wives and girlfriends etc to copy the styles. Or even Russian vodka Stolychnaya which they couldn't get but we could from "Natashas" the Russian gift shop in East Berlin.
I really must keep my previous promise and post some of my treasures.
    Thanks for showing

    Regards

    Mark

Hi Mark, yes you must post them!

I remember the SOXMIS marked cars driving around when I was stationed in Detmold in the 70's !
